You're A Soldier

Assalamualaikum..

In a cold windy rainy day, I celebrated the end of my rotation for term 1 with pink banana smoothies. Kemain~

Jam sekarang pukul 4.35 petang. Plan aku masa dalam lecture pathology tadi sebenarnya nak tido skang. Tapi tu lah. Aku memang suka bertindak kejam dengan diri sendiri, last-last tak tido pun. Fyi, hari ni dah habis rotation kat Bons Secour Hospital. Wallaweyh, tak sangka okey dah 4 minggu jalan kaki gi Bons every Tuesday till Thursday morning. Tiga puluh minit kot. Phewww~

Hari ni last day di Bons, huhu, ending rotation yang agak sayu. Cewwah. Hari ini ikut consultant aku gi consult wife seorang pakcik yang sangat tua and pakcik ni kindahave unknown causes of pain, depression bagai. So macam wife dia confused lah sama ada nak bawak pakcik tu balik rumah as soon as possible, ataupun stay kat hospital for like another 2 weeks. And then ada jugak palliative cares nurses masa tu discuss sama pasal nak bawak gi palliative care home ke, ataupun public health nurses datang rumah ke, pastu pasal health insurance bagai bla bla bla. So tu lah yang jadi sayunya...

Pastu, masa dah habis consult ngan patient, consultant aku cakap lah he need to go dah. Then he asked, "do you learn something from this rotation?". Of course lah, belajar a lot kot. Daripada ikut dia gi ward round, gi belajar pasal CT scan images, ikut masuk operation theatre, experiences yang sangat ohsem with consultant, a handsome middle-aged man. Awww~

Minggu last kat Bons rasa sangat best. Banyak sebab, sebab minggu ni baru macam all-out or more time with consultant kot. Macam hari selasa, my consultant sendiri yang bagi tutorial kat students yang attached kat Bons. Pastu hari rabu, pergi OT, tengok dia buat minor surgery dekat seorang budak lelaki ni punya penis. Fuhhh, kuat jugak bau darah and rasa ouchyy je tengok consultant aku potong kulit tuu, pheewww~ And then dia tunjuk lah dia clearkan urethra patient yang ada blockage. Kadang tu bila dia ada something nak kena buat, dia mintak tolong ada doktor bawah dia untuk ajar kitorang something. Kiranya, he wont let us terkapai-kapai sepanjang kitorang kat OT.

So, kalau aku nak tulis ciri ciri consultant yang baik terhadap students:

1. Suka mengajar
2. Suka tanya, do you anything in your mind about "bla bla bla" that you still not understand?
3. Soft spoken
4. Cool & handsome (hahaha tak habis habis lagi)

Aku rasa kan, jadi budak medik, yang paling budak medik suka ialah duk dalam Operation Theatre sebab rasa cam ohsem je. Ye lah, bukan semua dapat masuk OT saja-saja. Keluarga pesakit pun tak boleh masuk, hang ni yang bukan family dia suka-suka je masuk, hehe.

Oh ya, and then this morning aku attend meeting consultants with radiologist and pathologist at 8am. Gila laa, aku kuar rumah pukul 7.30am tengah gelap lagi kot. Dah lah sekarang ni kawasan tempat aku ni tak berapa nak safe sebab ada mamat mana entah yang kacau budak-budak perempuan. Pheww, marathon aku pagi tadi. Aku pakai hoody eventho tak hujan sebab macam nak camouflage lah kononnya.

So meeting ni pun wahhh gempak kot. Kat sini aku realise, consultants ni bukanlah semuanya perfect, sometime they do need advices from the other consultants as well. So macam wah cool, so kita yang belum jadi doktor ni pun takleh anggap yang diri kita perfect sepanjang masa, tahu everything, ada je benda yang kita kena mintak tolong dari orang lain. Memang cool meeting no.

Seronok juga dengar radiologist explain pasal CT scan images patients and pathologist explain slides biopsy... eg, there is nodules here bla bla, this is invasive carcinoma.. perh. Aku rasa kalau dari dulu aku attend meeting ni, dah boleh jadi expert dah faham CT scan images and gambar histology biopsi. Haha.

Overall, rotation urology kat Bons memang sangat best. Enviroment yang best despite of private hospital so kena berjaga-jaga. And most importantly, harapnya one day, aku pun boleh jadi teaching-consultant yang ohsem macam consultants kat Bons ni. One day, insyaAllah. Gastroenterologist maybe? Takpun urologist? Haha. No way for that.

Found this somewhere, "As medical students, we should strive to embrace the multiple facets of medicine throughout our university years, which will equip us with sufficient knowledge to be our patients’ “healing hands”. My dream of becoming a doctor became evident when I realised how precious life was, and in doing my part in preserving it would be my lifetime dedication. "

Orite lah people, itu sahaja nak ceritanya. Belajar rajin-rajin, okies~

We'll stand and fight

Forever we pray
